Carrie Kauk, assistant principal second violin

At age six, growing up in Franklin, MI., Carrie wanted to do everything her big brother was doing, namely violin lessons. She studied with Bud Fenstermacher of the Detroit Symphony, then began commuting to Cleveland, Ohio, to study monthly with Daniel Majeske, concertmaster of the Cleveland Orchestra.  After studying with David Cerone and Kathy Winkler at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Carrie was fortunate to have years of contracts, recordings and touring with each of the Detroit, Utah, and Houston Symphonies before joining HGO. She is also a member of the Houston Ballet Orchestra.

Married, and living in Pearland, Carrie stays busy homeschooling their 9 and 11 year old boys.  Whenever time allows, she loves working in the yard, reading, cooking, and traveling.  Mozart, Brahms and Puccini are favorite composers, and the privilege and fulfillment of performing great works gives her goosebumps every time!
